About Us | Who we are and what we do

The Department of Data Science and Data Analytics Engineering was established at Loyola in 2016-17 as an answer to the ever rising need for analytical skills. Loyola Academy is the first college in twin cities to have introduced such a course which is a combination of Statistics and Computer Science. Today we experience a true deluge of data which shapes our lives, ranging from large global issues such as climate change to the smallest local problems. Data Science relevant subjects such as Python, R Programming and Big Data using Hadoop play a vital role in shaping students’ as Data Scientists in these fields.

  • 01 Major Projects

    Major projects are part of Loyola's curriculum. Our corporate tie-ups ensure our students have global exposure during their project period. As part of the B.Sc. Computer Data Science & Data Analytics and Engineering curriculum, students do projects related to Machine Learning, Predictive analytics in general and implement statistics at large to complete their degree.

  • 02 Guest Lectures

    We invite experts from the industry like IBM Technologies by PACE, an IBM Career Education Authorized business partner, Jigyasa Analytics, etc., to talk to our students on a regular basis.

  • 03 Tech-Savvy Labs

    Our dedicated labs are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge technology. This ensures plenty of hands-on exposure for our students.

  • 2016

    B.Sc. Data Science & Data Analytics Engineering is established at Loyola Academy, with the approval of Osmania University

  • 2017

    Garima Gupta, a Final Year student participated and won 2nd prize in STATS MONARCH in STATA FEST-2018 held on 29th September 2017 organized by the department of Statistics at St.Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad.

  • 2018
    1. Mrs. V. Theresa Vinayasheela has participated in Govt. of India sponsored one week FDP on “Big Data Analytics” organized by E & ICT Academy, National Institute of Technology, Warangel at MVSR Engineering College, Nadergul, Hyderabad, Telangana from 7th -14th August 2018.
    2. Garima Gupta, a Final Year student participated and won 2nd prize in the event ”Abstract presentation” in ANONYMOUS HARDWARE HACKATHON 2K18, held on 1st September 2018 organized by the department of Computer Systems and Engineering at Loyola academy Degree and PG College, Secunderabad.
    3. A. Naga Jyothi, a Final Year student participated and won 3rd prize in “INNOVATION 2018” (PROJECT EXHIBITION), held on 21st August 2018 organized by the department of Electronics Technology at Loyola Academy Degree and PG College.
    4. Vinay Adithya, a Second Year student played “VOLLEY BALL”, Ayodhan’18 Sports Festival held from 29th March to 1st April 2018 at NIT, WARANGAL and the team secured 1st Place.
