The Department of Mass Communication was set up at Loyola in 2004, and offers under graduate course of B. A. Mass Communication.
"We go the extra mile to get our kids out there. They thank us by leaping ahead, beyond our wildest dreams."
- Mrs. Rajeshwari NHead of the Department
The Department of Mass Communication was started in the year of 2004. Ever since then it has trained students to articulate their creativity with a solid background in technical expertise. We aim to provide the widest possible range of skills to turn our students into top media professionals. The specialised course focuses on visual communication, film making, and short-film making. The students are also exposed to advertisement creation and production.
Some key statistics for the Department of Mass Communication:
we offer 1 UG course of 3 years for B. A in Mass Communication
with a cumulative experience of 144 years
hand-picked for their creative edge
including leading visual communications experts
Admissions to our B.A. Mass Communication course happens through the common Loyola admissions route.
Guest lecturers who are practicing in the fields of film making, documentaries, & advertisement production; large & small-scale projects on advertisement creation, making films; discussions on visual communication, photography, & short films; practicals – we do everything in our power to make sure our course is as interactive as possible. A few reasons why students are so in love with the department:
Our students take full responsibility to organize and ensure the success of two large media fests – LenZcape, a city-wide, theme-based photography competition-cum-exhibition, and INFOCUS, a national-level, theme-based short film and documentary film festival.
Mass Communication Labs are fully equipped with state-of-the-art studios, edit-bays, and audio recording facilities.
We go to great lengths to have experts talk to our students. Some of the names we drew include photographer Michael Monteiro, Ms.Ratna Rao Shekar of WOW! Magazine, and Ms Swathi Sucharitha - Senior Journalist with The Times of India
Our department doesn't do lectures. Instead, we have discussions where everybody is a learner. The students love it, as do the teachers. Drop by for a visit.
Since our genesis, our students have been reaching out and making their dreams come true. We help, too. Here are some major achievements:
